... & the NEW PANNONIAN GARDENING
Pannonia Palmen KG is leaded by Dr. Markus Fink together with Ing. Robert Lackner. Dr. Markus Fink is Physicist and Consultant for high-end materials & -technology and has experience with exotic plants in Central Europe for years. Furthermore, he is scientific leader of Agro Rebels e.V., an associateion with the main goal to help farmers who need to change their products towards to mediterranean fruits for exemple due to climate change. Ing. Robert Lackner is expert for mediterranean plants in Central Europe with practical experience of about 40 years. He was managing partner of „Palmengarten KG“ in Bd. Dt. Altenburg. Furthermore, he is autor of numerous journal articales about gardinging in Central Europe with focus on the pannonian climate. Our vision is to find plants harmonising well with the new climatic conditions with focus on the pannonian area. These plants come partly from the Mediterranean area and vary with microclimate and substrate in the garden. The vision can be summarised as NEW GARDENING FOR PANNONIAN CLIMATE
Why? - Because it's time to adjust the garden to the climate change.

Aloud predicitons we have to prepare for hotter, dryer summers with unusual extreme wheather events. If raining then the dry soil isn't able to absorb all the water. Less rainfall and high temperatures together with dry periods during the hot season leads to more need of watering in the garden. This can be avoided by an appropriate selection of plants.
With proper plants wayter can be saved and you create holiday atmosphere at home.
A very good example are Yuccas, Olive trees, mediterranean cypresses and blue mediterranean fan palms as 'plant indicator' together with mediterranean shrubs. Such 'stone gardens' need only very less water and are very suitable for increasing temperatures.
You want to save water and you are looking for more colours in your garden? Also this 'combination' is possible. Here you can see a few examples of bigger flowering plants which prosper very well in a properly planned pannonian garden.
In the first three pictures (from left) Lagerstroemia indica at the site of Pannonia Palmen KG can be seen. This typical mediterranean plant is flowereing and needs only less water as soon as it's well rooted. Diverse flowering colors are available, from white to pink, violet, light- to dark red. Please ask us about the availability and delivery time of your favourite color! A rarity of this plant is the dark-leaved Lagerstroemia indica. It's leaves are nearly black, therefore it can be a real eye-catcher in your garden (4th picture). Lagerstroemia are available as bushes and trees.
A further flowereing tree is Albizia jul. ombrella (5th picture from left to right). It's flowers are pink and it needs no watering wenn well rooted.
Camellia japonica is very suitable for places having not fully sun - it needs the shadow. The flowers can be white, pink and red (in the picture on the right side a red one is shown).
Fruits in your garden? It's the same - mediterranean fruits don't need much water! Figs for example are meanwhile no rarity in the pannonian area anymore. Another mediterranean fruit with similar requirements is Diospyrus Kaki. Certain varieties of Punica granatum deliver a good harvest at the right position after 2-3 years. A new trend is the Eriobytra japonica, a tasty fruit which grows meanwhile also in the pannonian climate! We would be pleased to discuss with you together which fruits will be suitable also in future for your garden.
