Rhypidophyllum Hystrix is a stocky, shrub-like plant that is considered the most frost-hardy palm. Their frost hardiness ranges from around -15 to -20 °C (in the short term!). 
Of course, these extreme values can only be achieved by well-established, not too young plants.Rhapidophyllum Hystrix forms very short trunks that have long, sharp spines.
It grows very slowly and is considered a rarity in Europe, which unfortunately results in relatively high prices.
