Here you can find typical plants for your desert garden, which can be planted out in the mildest areas of Austria.

A desert garden with succulents gives mediterranean flair. The ongoing effort is quite small if well planned. These plants don't need to be watered in most cases in the very dry pannonian climate after an adequate acclimatisation time, like Yuccas.  And the pannonian winter is no problem for most of these plants. The described Agaves, Dasylirion, etc. are a few examples for succulents which can be planted out on well-drained sites. Most of them are planted out at or site since years:

- Agaves: A. Havardiana, A. Neomexicana, A. Ovatifolia, A. Montana, A. Utahensis

- other succulents: Dasylirion leiophyllum, Opuntia macrocentra, Cylindropuntia imbricata, Hesperaloe Parviflora

- Yuccas, like Y. Faxoniana, Y. Gloriosa, Y. Thompsoniana, Y. Rostrata, Y. Linearifolia, Y. Baccata, Y. Torreyi, Y. Brevifolia, etc.
